How old are you?

How long have you been with 5280 CrossFit?
September 2018

Why do you CrossFit?
At first it was to see if I could even do it. Then, I became determined to get better at it. Now, it is about something very different. Now I strive to achieve the slow, methodical goal to be healthy and strong!

Are you married, single, in a relationship? Do you have any children (“furry” children included)?
I have been married for 35 years! I have a 29 year old son and a 20 year daughter. I sadly lost my fur baby in December, but a new puppy is in our future!

What is your favorite activity to do outside the gym?
I don’t get to do it that often, but I love to swim.

How do you make time for CrossFit in your weekly schedule? What’s helped you stay committed?
With a crazy work schedule, that is a big challenge. For me, I look at the week ahead and plan accordingly.

How has 5280 made your life better?
It’s made me stronger both mentally and physically!

What is one CrossFit goal you are currently working on?
A consistent 3 day a week workout (minimum). While that may seem too simplistic, I know myself. If I set goals too high, I just get frustrated. The other goal I’ve set it to force myself to make small improvements each week.

Share one CrossFit story… (funny, cool, inspiring, etc)
I was trying too hard and getting frustrated. Every workout was becoming either a frustration or a disappointment. After class one night, one of the phenomenal coaches said something to me I’ll never forget. He said this process takes time. Are you in it for the short term of the long term? It takes people years to become good at this. Instead of forcing it, relax and enjoy the slow process of improvement. It may not have been in those exact words, but it was close. Those words transformed my thinking.

What advice do you have for someone thinking about starting CrossFit?
Take the time to get good at it. Don’t rush the process. It will come!

Tell us something most 5280 CrossFit members don’t know about you.
Gosh, I don’t know. Unrelated to exercise/fitness, I’ve flown on the Concord, been bitten by a dolphin, went to a cooking school in Italy and love to cook and entertain.
